Mine roller for light vehicle protection

The Firth Ground Stand-off Platform, Light truck Mine roller is a pushed platform designed to protect vehicles by detonating land mines at a relatively safe stand-off distance away from the front of the vehicle.  The equipment can be used with a wide range of vehicles such as Land Rover, Mitsubishi, Toyota GM HMMWV etc.

The Firth ground standoff platform (GSP) provides a practical means to enable a variety of explosive hazard detect & neutralization systems to be integrated with a variety of existing and future ground vehicles.

The GSP light truck protection variant, (GSP – LTP) mine roller has been specifically configured to provide protection against blast for light civilian type 4X4 trucks used in hostile environments.

The GSP – LTP is attached to the front of the vehicle at a NATO pintle and is pushed ahead of the vehicle,

The chassis and wheels of the platform are designed to mimic the effect of the truck passing over a mine so as to detonate the mine under the platform thus providing stand-off from the front of the truck.

The stand-off distance provided can considerably reduce the effect of a blast on the host vehicle.

In addition, a chain curtain is provided to trigger mines fitted with anti-disturbance fuses.

The Firth path tracking system steers the platform along the path to be taken be the host vehicle as it travels ahead as well as when making turns.

When the truck is being used in areas where land mines are known not to be a threat, the GSP can be towed behind a truck.
